Operations

Prospective student inquiries.

We have provided a unique web site - www.TheCourse-Online.us - especially for our associates to direct your candidate students to for a tour of TheCourse Online. They will not see any superfluous material, nor the identification of others offering TheCourse. Visit the site yourself and see. It provides the course syllabus and related academic papers, access to the demo and to our test engine. Tell your web master to link to this site using the 'blank' option - as we did above - and when they are finished they close it and remain on your site.

Your access.

Each online Associate is assigned a user ID and password for accessing the administrative features of TheCourse web site. Use the 'College Login' button. Options provided are:

  1. Add student. A form is provided for entering student information by keying or pasting. Enter the student name as it will appear on the certificate; e.g., Joe W. Blow, Jr.
  2. Get student information. This supports retrieval of information on all or selected students.
  3. Check quiz grades. TheCourse consists of 16 segments, and each is followed by a quiz. Your students' grades are available, showing their progression through the segments and their quiz scores.

Our process.

When a new student is added:

  1. An email is automatically sent to the student by our server with id and password, and instructions for accessing the online course and downloading the test engine.
  2. We will contact the student by telephone or email to discuss the course and how to communicate with the instructor.
  3. For North American students, we will prepare and send to the student a package consisting of (a) PMI's Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge Fourth Edition (PMBOK) and (b) a set of three workbooks. We send only PMBOK to other students, and ask that they download and print the workbooks from our web site.
  4. We will respond to student questions and comments via our bulletin board or email.

When the student has completed the course, we will notify the Associate. We will also send our certificate to the student, which identifies TheCourse in Project Management Institute terms. It can be used in the event of audit to confirm that the student took TheCourse. The Associate may send its own certificate and/or grant continuing education credits, in accordance with its own policies.

The Student License.

Online students proceed at their own pace.  Their license to the online material is initially good for six months. The expiration date and instructions for asking for 3-month extensions appear at the top of the page each time a student logs in. We have occasionally had a student finish and pass the exam in Two weeks, but the time varies from a low of two weeks to as long as three years.  As long as the student is making progress, we stand ready to extend another three months.  Long times are generally due to heavy workloads, travel, sickness, etc.  At least that is what the students tell me.

Cancellation Policy.

We are agreeable to cancellation by a student and refund of tuition within two weeks of registration, subject to our charge of $125 for payment of text and materials if applicable. No refunds will be made after that time. This policy should be made clear to prospective students in advance of registration, including any additional cancellation fee imposed by the Associate.
